Three local comedy troupes, Murphy, Look Cookie, and Midnight Society have been accepted to the Del Close Marathon comedy festival in New York City. That’s right, NEW YORK CITY. But to get to this prestigious event, they have to earn some scratch. That’s why they’re throwing a good old-fashioned rent party like your grandfather used to. The all day throw-down will feature Nasty Clan , Alexander’s Dark Band , the Pelicks , and The Sexy Finger Champs reunion.
Of the Sexy Finger Champs, the Austin Chronicle wrote, “The Champs pack all the piss and vinegar of the Olympia rock goddesses, but don't take themselves nearly as seriously; somehow, it's hard to imagine Janet Weiss & company ever writing songs about doo-doo, tumors, baby monitors, or aspiring to be a teenage slut.” As if reuniting some Austin punk icons weren’t enough, there will also be a tater tot eating competition!
Join the Austin Chronicle Film Critics Kimberly Jones and Josh Rosenblatt as they debate Comic-Book movies on the Picture in Picture blog. Cast your vote for your favorite debater and join them Thursday, July 17th at 7pm at the United States Art Authority.
